youth rugby event - ages 6-13 introducing the game
The iYRA held a youth rugby event for children from the ages of six to thirteen on Saturday October 27 to introduce the game of rugby. The emphasis was on players having fun while running with the ball, evading opponents, supporting the ball-carrier, passing, tagging the ball-carrier and scoring. It was a seven-a-side game with no tackles, no rucks, no mauls, no scrums, no line-outs and no kicking. There were games on 2 fields for the different age groups. The tackle was replaced by a tag, where the ball-carrier is touched by an opponent. Fun was had by all.
